Japanese Maple Forest (acer palmatum)
A delightful collection of red and green Japanese Maple cultivars, transformed into a forest group. The delicate leaf patterns and different colors are striking throughout the spring, summer and fall.
Japanese Maple (acer palmatum 'sango-kaku')
This Japanese Coral Bark Maple is grown less for its foliage than for its coral-red bark, which adds a brilliant spark of color during the winter. The foliage is green, turning bright gold in fall before it drops to reveal the red bark. Deciuduous. Keep outdoors. 17 years old.
Trident Maple (acer buergerianum)
Well known for the superb colors of its foliage in autumn. The bark is a dappled pale brown and exfoliates with age, revealing a grey, orange and brown color. The small leaves (which resist scorching during drought) have 3 short lobes close together - hence the name "Trident".
Japanese Maple Filagree (acer palmatum dissectum)
The Dissectums are the most highly sought after of the Japanese Maples. Their leaves are so deeply cut that they have a lacey or feathery quality. Has beautifully gnarled and cascading branches. The height is restricted because of the location of the graft on the rootstock.
Japanese Maple (acer palmatum 'winter flame')
Spectacular dwarf form of the beloved 'Sango Kaku'. The foliage will tend to be a little more red similar to 'Beni Kawa' along with some variegation. Pinkish colored trunk and branches. Terrific fall coloring of reds pinks and yellows. Deciduous. Keep outdoors. 16 years old.
Japanese Red Maple (acer palmatum 'atropurpurea')
Foliage is purplish-red becoming green in late summer, deeply lobed, red fall color. Insignificant small reddish-purple flowers in May-June. Deciduous. Keep outdoors. 7 tree group - each 4-10 years old.
