Japanese Black Pine (pinus thunbergii 'mikawa')
Stiff dark green needles (3-5"long) occur in pairs. Large, grayish-white terminal buds help distinguish it from most other pines. Much sought after in bonsai and takes many years to achieve the look of a superior specimen bonsai. Hardy. Likes sun. Keep outdoors. 15 years old.

Japanese Black Pine (pinus thunbergii-'mikawa')
Each branch is covered with densly packed, dark green needles and crowned in winter with large silver white candles. The candles are as attractive as flowers, and their striking contrast with the foliage is visible over a long distance. Tight, low, mounding habit.
